South Carolina Parents Involved in Education (SCPIE) led the fight against Common Core from 2011 - 2014. The long, hard battle resulted in legislation that was intended to replace Common Core, but the Legislature watered down the bill and South Carolina ended up with Common Core rebranded as SC College and Career Ready Standards. The SCIE president decided to connect with other state leaders in the fight against Common Core to create the national organization United States Parents Involved in Education (USPIE). USPIE has 20 state chapters and plans to have a chapter in every state by 2024.
During the Common Core years, USPIE had active regional chapters in 5 areas of the state. Regional and county chapters are being reestablished and SCPIE is working with other groups to address Critical Race Theory (CRT), the sexualization of children, boys competing in girls sports, and mask mandates and potential vaccine mandates for government schooled children.
SCPIE is presenting around the state to help parents and concerned citizens to find and eradicate CRT in their schools.
USPIE MISSION
United States Parents Involved in Education (USPIE) is a nonprofit, nationwide coalition that seeks to return education to its proper local roots and restore parental authority over their children's education by helping parents and local communities to escape federal and other national influences.
Grassroots leaders from around the country work to
1) expose the lies being taught in government schools that harm children and threaten freedom, 2) encourage parents to take back responsibility to educate their children, 3) initiate and support efforts to return complete local control of government schools, and 4) encourage states to wean themselves off the federal education dole.
USPIE VISION
To create a culture where parents, empowered with the authority to choose what and how their children learn, are the undisputed primary educators of their children; where local schools operate in support of families, and where education is unencumbered by federal mandates.
